It is a growing up record for the kids, and it is also one for the family. This is the record for the Tang family whom I have served the last three rounds since I did the newborn photography for their little angel.

It is amazing to have some records here and there to remember the time that you have together. And this is one of the reasons why families hire photographers to have their photographs taken. It goes down to the basics of having an annual record.

Just a simple update, hope you would loved it too!

Newborn and Family Photography | Keeping it Simple

Family Photography

Alot of calls kept coming and most questions were asking if you could do Newborn Photography if your baby has passed that golden week – 5th to 10th day period. The short answer is yes but here’s one good reason why families do it during the first two weeks!

It is normal that babies start to come awake more often for milk, and diaper changing from the second week. And from the third week onward, they will sometimes stay awake being adjusted to daytime, or probably asleep but conscious of the environment due to the day light. For some babies, this could be much faster depending on their development.

For newborn photography to work well, it is ideal to do it between the 5th to 10th day term because they are much more ‘curly’ and they get into sleep so quickly after their milk which brings a lot of differences in the images that are produced.

This is also the reason why we have our current promotion to adapt the third week to keep things simple for your baby, have a little head start and most importantly those newborn features that doesn’t last beyond the third week!

We have been doing newborn photography for the last five years with a lot of attention spend on handling your baby and ensuring our sessions are done in a comfortable manner that is suitable for you and your families. Our sessions all begin with a little chat to help you understand how we handle your baby and how some of the images are done even before we begin!

Family Portrait with the McCoo

It is always interesting to see different families in their homes but yet the most beautiful thing about doing family portrait is that mutual connections in the family when little unexpected incidents take place, we get to watch and capture their moments together.

But don’t get us wrong, it is also great to have some family portrait done to preserve the time together, because we can never pause and go back to those precious moments. With photographs, memories are much more vivid as these lifetime markers remind us of incidents that took place strongly in our heart and mind.

It is enjoyable to see parents cope with their babies, because it is much more real and natural, especially when baby is looking for some form of comfort. Whether you are someone who prefer to attend to baby instantly, or speak calmly, this is something that is about you and your family.

Nothing can be as real!

Family Photo Studio

In a family photo studio, you get an amazing range of color backdrops which you get to match your favorite colors with your family theme. But this isn’t a color that I would pick, because I will prefer the neutral range which are easier to blend. Fortunately, we gave it a try when our clients request for it.

With a six months old, this is probably one of the better colors to keep things light and chirpy whenever you looked back those images. Especially for a happy and cheerful family, this is definitely some hip colors!

The early part of the photo shoot was quite a challenge, but we manage to overcome it with a little help from her dad and mum.

They were performing a “puppet show” which set off the smiles on this little angel. I am not sure what is shown on the “puppet show” because my eyes were glued to the viewfinder.

The sixth month old is a very precious stage for both the baby and the parents because she just learn to sit, crawl and understood you better. If you have miss newborn photography then this is something you shouldn’t miss!

Where else is more comfortable than your own home?

Home family photography works the best if you have little ones with you. It is also the best place because you will definitely be less tense, looking the most natural in your family photo.

Believe it or not, majority of us will think that it’s not going to work if we are going to do it at home because we are shaped to think this way – Does it really work?

Well, it really depends. Say if you lived in a beautiful home, and you are used to the conventional way of going to a studio for your photograph then it is likely that the photography session may not turn as well.

This is the real secret behind every photography session. Your mood is the most important when it comes to photography while the techniques and experience of a photographer does compliment a session through creating comfortability and assurance. But there’s always a limitation on what a photographer can do.

So in order to get good images, it is ideal to go after your preference than getting a deal because if the session doesn’t go well, you’ll still be happy. Isn’t that easy?

We are happy to be able to work with the Li family for their family portrait at their cozy home and it was really a breeze for us even if it is the first time we are photographing a young adult!

Lifestyle Family Photography | Lifestyle Portrait With the Koh Family | Portrait Photographer

I’ll get to look around my client’s home whenever there is a break. And it is amazing because every family is different and expresses their love and bond differently. I was really captivated by daddy and his little boy having their time together in a numeric activity which helps foster a child’s early development in numbers and foster better relationship.

It is a rare sight to see a child getting indulged without noticing my presence and camera’s shutter. So I moved around taking a few photographs for their family while they are having time together.

Getting a family photograph like this can be as simple as posing everyone but the essence is really about you being yourself with your family. And it is definitely worthwhile having it printed and hang on your wall for your memories.

This is also the picture which the Koh family has gotten for their wall. I really love the mood of the photo because it was taken during late evening and their home is filled with beautiful natural light.

I’ve been photographing family in this way in this way since early 2011. It is much more relaxing and natural to see clients having fun than having a pose shot. To add on, it works for the majority as well. This is also known as lifestyle photography or lifestyle family photography.

Just sharing a piece from the beautiful series that we gotten for them.

And special thanks for sharing your joy with us!

Why Hire Family Photographer?

Why Hire Family Photographer?

Having a beautiful family photo is something precious that most of us would not denied. What goes behind the scene during a family photo-shoot is as easy as setting up a camera on a tripod, putting it on a self-timer and shooting it as many times as you can to get that piece of image right for you.

But you can also hire someone to your place to get it done for you as it is much more efficient and less frustrated if you have seniors or very active kids around. Depending on individual, your background might just be a simple wall of your favourite color or something interesting which is unique to your home.

In this episode, we bring you a simple family portrait which I did at home using an empty wall with only natural light. We also show you how you can do a quick fix to turn those ugly shadow into something that is much more pleasant to the eyes. For a finer retouch work, time will play a part depending on the situation and individual expectations.

It’s entirely different again when we take it on to the printer, where the quality check process restarts itself.
